~The Light~
"All which is most holy comes from the light"
The Followers of the Light is the formal religion within the northern human realms of Garnet Coast, followed mostly by Kingsfolk though not exclusively. The Followers of The Light believe in a single god who created all that be can seen by the naked eye, all that can be felt, touched and sensed.
~History~
Tales handed down from generation to generation speak of a time where only elves wandered the lands, those created first by The Light. The elves were prefect in every way, every thing from how they spoke to their intellect. The Light was happy to see its creations wander to all corners of the world and live in harmony with one another. They prayed to The Light, thanking it for all it had given to them, their banquets, their families and the vast knowledge they had massed through the years. Life was truly an Eden for a great span of time, the Elves ruled the waking world with nothing to stop them, nothing but themselves. These elves came to known as the Starwalkers, powerful, beautiful, flawless beings with a vast insight for knowledge, but with no flaws they soon thought as to why they should worship another when they themselves were prefect in every fashion. From this single idea others sprouted, and like a plague it soon conquered the world, with their great insight came rebellion as they shook off the chains The Light only to find the gaping maw of The Darkness waiting for such a moment.
The Light was not angry, nor was it saddened by its creations choices, it had given them free will, and with that they were free to do as they wish, yet that freedom did not come without consequences. The Darkness lurked just beneath the Starwalkers skin and only sought the destruction of the Elven people for the pure and simple reason to create chaos and death. Taking strength from the Starwalkers The Darkness set upon them a curse, one so powerful it brought even the Starwalkers to their knees.
The curse, at the time, was a fate worse than death, for with the pain came a changing of the most terrible faith. No longer were the Ancient ones Elves but now Humans, Gadeni, and Dwarfs; this mystical transformation was set upon the world and all but a few Elves scummed to this curse. Those that did survive were never the same again. Once immortal and with a wide spread empire they had lost their immortality and all the lands they once held.
The Light watched from above as its world, its beautiful haven, fell to ashes, The Light wished for nothing more than to aid its creations but this had been their choice, for their free will had brought it upon them.
The Light faded from the world, and as to this day it is unsure as to when or if it would ever come back. For many years The followers of The Light prayed for the return of The Light, but no signs of its return have been shown.
In years passed it was the Humans out of all the groups that took to following The Light most religiously and sought ways to bring back The Light to their world. Many saw fault with the Elves, it had been their fault that The Darkness had consumed them all and thrown them into such a dismal world filled with death. With a target for their hatred and anguish, it wasn't long before the human empires of the north set their swords towards the heart of the Graceling Empire as they tried to destroy the ones which had blamed forthis hellish world. While the Empire was shaken to its foundations it did not fully crumble, unknown to the humans that is. Seeing that the plan to bring The Light back had failed the Kingsfolk went on with their lives as they had done so for thousands of years.
These days the practices of The Light are more passive than they had been in the past; help others, fasting, confessing sins, charity, among other things. While widely accepted in the Garnet Coast its influences doesn't stretch far past its borders where other faiths hold steady though missionaries are always on the move to bring more into the flock.
