Jeska is forward with her words and emotions. The blunt fashion in which she speaks her mind often causes friction with those who do not know her, but those that do understand her know how deep her loyalty lies. Having chosen the life of a pirate and the freedom that comes with it, she is strongly opposed to all forms of slavery. Despite this view she has been known to be a bit of a womanizer, the barbarian usually quick to chastise females she feels have settled into servant rolls. This is especially true when she has a couple of drinks in her. Her enjoyment of alcohol combined with her fiery personality has drawn Jeska into numerous brawls at various taverns across Ahrivia. Captain Arlen often steps in before such a scene gets out of hand and thanks to him she has yet to wind up in a prison cell.
-Background-
Born to Eryal and Polgara Reinghart, Jeska was introduced to the lifestyle of her people at a young age. The moment she was able to hold a sword her training began. While she had a brother on two separate occasions, neither of her younger siblings survived past their first week. Destined to be an only child, she ultimately benefited from the death of her brothers in the sense that her parents devoted all their time to her profession as a warrior. Although not male, they believed her the only chance to carry on their proud bloodline and wished to see their daughter rise as far as possible. The young Jeska took well to their teachings and as she came of age, her natural build proved beneficial to combat. At nearly six foot she matched most males in her village in terms of height and although not as broad, made up for her lean stature with speed.
When finally allowed to go on raids with her father and his companions, she felt she had found her calling. The excitement of battle was nothing short of euphoric for the new warrior and she reveled in the spoils that came along with it. Like her father she developed a love for ale and bloodshed, a true Varrel warrior among her people. From the age of sixteen to twenty she set out each raiding season to kill, plunder and enslave and for those four years life was good. Alongside her kin she could see no other way to live and thought this path was the one she would travel to the end of her days. The Gods had other plans.
Varrel are well known for their ferocity on the field, but less known for their strategies. Such reckless blood lust has led many raiding parties to their end and her fathers would be no different. In the year of her twentieth nameday, the raiding part of Eryal Reignhart found itself outsmarted by a collection of Gadeni they had been tracked towards the coast. Between two ledges the majority of the Varrel party was slaughter, Jeska’s father included. Those that survived were captured. For years she had been on the delivering end of such treatment, but she was the recipient. Injured and restrained she was, for the first time, shown what it was to suffer as property of another. For over a month she was bound and prodded as the group neared the sea and finally thrown in a port town cell. Her time spent in chains had caused doubt to creep into her mind, doubt in the way her people treated others. Did strength of arm grant you the right to force your will on others?
Whether it was granted to her by the Gods or through sheer coincidence, Jeska was given a second chance. In her street side cell, days before she was to be auctioned to the highest bidder, a chance encounter changed her life. The last of her captured comrades to be sold, likely thanks to her abrasive demeanor she was alone in the cell when an elf came to a stop outside her cage. Over the years her kind had killed and captured countless of his, a fact well known, yet with a smile and little explanation he set her free. Naturally, suspicion was her initial reaction. Despite her initial mistrust she was no fool and saw the opportunity for what it was. A day later she was out of the port and on the ocean, afloat in a commandeered vessel alongside the same elf that had set her free.
Her escape into the vast blue was five years ago and she has not looked back. In that time she has become increasingly close to the elf that saved her, Arlen, who is now her captain and friend. Together, along with their crew, they travel the oceans on the SS Popo in search of those that seek freedom and the wealth that comes with it. This group of freed slaves and pirates is her new family, one that affectionately given her the nickname Red or Big Red when she isn’t listening. The lifestyle suits her well and she defends it fiercely. Those who threaten any member of her crew of the vessel itself, will quickly discover the true meaning reason for her nickname.
Unfortunately, a ship does not pay for itself and at the moment the SS Popo is in need of repair. This reality has landed the ship and its crew at Lands End for the time being, but as soon as the vessel is ready to sail, Jeska knows will feel the salty mist of the ocean once more.

Pummel Strike - Fond of brute force, Jeska flips her blade in order to drive the steel pummel of her katana into her foe. This strike is usually aimed for the side of the head or jaw, leaving the target staggered. One post cool down. 20 Stamina
Two Handed Swing - While Jeska is not trained in the two handed katana fighting style, she is skilled enough to grip the blade in both hands for a single powerful swing. This attack is not as graceful as her normal strikes, but makes up for its lack of finesse with power. One post cool down. 20 Stamina
Sure Footed Block - Jeska has spent years on the sea and her legs are stronger for it. Whether she is on a boat or on land, she is able to block strong blows with her blade without giving ground. Two post cool down. 20 Stamina
